walking with God

walking = voluntary act

so, if it is a voluntary act, then to walk with God means to live a life that is surrendered to Goda life of saying, “not my will be done, but Your will be done.” walking with God also means living a life that is controlled by God. it is steady and reliable. and finally, a walk with God means a life that is lived for God. it speaks of discipleship and progression. it suggests a life that is lived for God’s glory, God’s purposes, and God’s mission. now all of this is predicated upon intimacy. intimacy with God is really the issue here. the phrase “walking with God” is used throughout the book of genesis, and it always denotes ongoing relationship and intimacy. we know noah walked with God, as did abraham, and isaac. whenever that phrase is used, it’s a metaphor for a real, meaningful relationship with God.
